The Thule Hull-a-port XT 848 is a J-style kayak carrier. The Thule Hull-a-port XT gives you the flexibility to carry either one or two kayaks depending on how the upright arm is positioned. The 848 Hull-a-port XT was designed to be easy to use, universal mounting, a tool free installation, and have the ability to be locked down to the crossbars. The Hull-a-port XT works with a variety of different styles of kayaks from white water and recreational kayaks to sea and touring kayaks.
- Carries one kayak when used in the J-style position or two kayaks when used in the stacker position
- Integrated cam lever which allows you to set the kayak carrier into 3 different positions, a J-style position, a stacker position, and a flat position
- When positioned in the J-style position the 848 can carry a single kayak on a slight angle
- When positioned in the stacker position the 848 can carry two kayaks up on edge. One kayak will be set into the 848 kayak carrier while the other is set onto your crossbars and tied to the 848, additional foam pads are recommended to protect your boat. Using the 848 as a stacker is good for occasional use when carrying a second boat. If you are commonly carrying 2 boats a second set of is recommended as it will be easier to load and will provide better protection for your kayak
- Can also be folded in to a flat position when not in use. This allows for easier access to parking garages or other low clearance areas
- Integrated StrapCatch for easy strap management when loading your kayak
- Includes a pair of tie down straps to secure your boats onto the roof rack as well as a pair of bow and stern tie downs to secure the kayak to the front and rear of your vehicle, always refer to the instructions on how to properly secure your kayak onto your vehicle
- If your vehicle does not have existing front and rear tie downs you can use either the Thule 529 Hood Loop for the front tie down points and the Thule 530 Quick Loop for the back tie down
- Can be locked to your crossbars by purchasing a Thule Two Pack of Locks
- Universal mounting system which is designed to fit square, aero style after market crossbars, and most factory installed crossbar systems
